|Ellesmere Island is North America's northernmost landmass. A
vast land rising from the sea -- Isolated, mysterious, compelling.
Soaring mountain fortresses crowned with glistening ice caps. Immense
glacier and towering icebergs. Deep fiords with blowing whales and
bobbing seals, ice-floes with grunting walrus and white bears slipping
silently into the waters.|
out from the most northerly community Grise Fiord (population 148) we
load our strong Polar Huskies with backpacks and hike our way through
the bursting tundra exploding with life. In a blanket of colors, the
migrants from South are hatching, and arctic youngs are reared in the
endless day of summer.
